What is Organization schema?
Organization is the schema.org type for a company, charity, school or other organisation. It ties your website to your logo, your profiles on other sites (sameAs) and how to contact you.
Google lists no required properties, only recommended ones. The most useful are the name, URL and logo, then sameAs profiles and a contact point. If customers visit you at an address, use LocalBusiness instead, which is a more specific kind of Organization.
Does Google show a rich result for Organization?
Organization markup has no rich result of its own; Google uses it to understand your organisation and it can influence the logo and knowledge panel shown in Search. Google: Organization structured data.
Worked example: Organization JSON-LD
A London analytics company adds its brand details and two social profiles:
- Organisation name: Acme Analytics Ltd
- Other name: Acme
- Website URL: https://acme.example
- Logo URL: https://acme.example/images/logo-512.png
- Description: Acme builds reporting dashboards for independent retailers.
- Profiles (sameAs): https://www.linkedin.com/company/acme-analytics, https://x.com/acmeanalytics
- Email: hello@acme.example
- Contact type: customer service
- Contact phone: +44 20 7946 0000
- City or town: London
- Country: GB
The generator outputs:
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "Organization",
"name": "Acme Analytics Ltd",
"alternateName": "Acme",
"url": "https://acme.example",
